CIVIC golf is powered by OpenStreetMap. An open data platform built by a community of volunteer mappers.
It already has thousands of mapped courses, but not all of them. You can help by adding your local courses, and when you do, you’ll be able to use them in the app. It’s easy and also kind of fun!
The best way to do this is with FairwayMapper, a free editor built specifically for mapping golf courses on OpenStreetMap. Search for your course, add the info for each hole, trace fairways, greens, bunkers, and tees, etc. And when you’re done, publish to OSM under your own account.
Below is a video I made showing how to add a course. This was created before FairwayMapper existed, and just uses the standard iD editor that’s available on OpenStreetMap. Everything is now much easier with FairwayMapper, but the video may still be helpful to give you an idea of how course mapping works.

NOTE: Newly added courses should automatically appear in the search results within 30 days of being added (assuming they’re properly tagged as leisure=golf_course), but they won’t be marked as Available unless I specifically add them to the app. Contact me for that.
